Tropical North Queensland's Croc Nash Hash event will receive a total of $10,000 in funding as part of a Palaszczuk Government program to grow the local tourism industry.
Member for Cairns Michael Healy said the latest round of the Queensland Destination Events Program (QDEP), funded by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), would support one of the region's most important sporting events.
"Tourism is a vital industry for Tropical North Queensland and major events are an important factor in growing this sector in coming years. That's why we're investing in major events to create more local tourism jobs," he said.
"This funding is for events that have potential to grow - in terms of audience or participation numbers, exposure or economic benefits".
